本周我们来学习与食物味道相关的词汇。

1. al dente /ɑlˈdɛnteɪ/

adj. (食物如面条) 有嚼劲的；筋道的

e.g. My hometown is known as the heaven for hand-pulled noodles, which boast both al dente texture and unique favor.

e.g. I prefer my noodles to be cooked al dente, not too soft but with a bit of firmness.

辨析：chewy /ˈtʃuːwi/

If food is chewy, it needs to be chewed a lot before it becomes soft enough to swallow. 耐嚼的，需要多嚼的(如肉；糖果等)

e.g. The meat is a bit overcooked, making it chewy.

2. mushy /ˈmʌʃi/

adj. 软塌塌的; 糊状的

e.g. If you cook vegetables too long, they’ll get mushy.

e.g. "The delivery time is terribly long, and the dishes in the food container have become mushy."

e.g. I am fond of mushy texture and creamy flavor of KFC’s mashed potatoes.

补充：mashed potatoes 土豆泥

creamy adj. 有奶油味的

3. crunchy /'krʌntʃɪ/

adj. 硬脆的；爽脆的；松脆的

e.g. The bread has a crunchy exterior with a soft and chewy interior.

e.g. The fried chicken had a deliciously crunchy crust while remaining moist and tender inside.

补充：crust 硬外皮；面包皮等

tender adj. 嫩的；柔软的

syn. crispy 脆的;酥脆的

e.g. The spring rolls were stuffed with a delicious mix of vegetables and wrapped in a crispy shell.

4. succulent /'sʌkjʊl(ə)nt/

adj. 汁多味美的；多水分的

e.g. The nine-year-old displays incredible talent in cooking; the steak she cooked, even as a first-timer is both succulent and tender.

e.g. The grilled chicken was so succulent that it practically melted in my mouth.

补充：first-timer初次做某事者

grill v. 烧，烤

synonym: juicy多汁的

e.g. The meat showcased in the advertisement for this newly-opened grill looked so juicy and tempting so my friend and I decided to give it a try.

antonym：dry, tough, overcooked 比较干的，柴的，老的

e.g. while eating, both my friend and I had our eyes glued to screen, which led to the beef on grill pan becoming dark and tough.

补充：have one’s eyes glued to screen 眼睛一直盯着屏幕看
